I suppose that, in the Regency world of perfect and conventional women, it's a nice change of pace to come across a heroine who defies convention for no particular reason other than she wants to. OK, so far.

The hero is all convention, but believable and likable. We met and liked them both in a previous book.

The one thing these two people have in common is that they wholeheartedly agree that a future for them is out of the question, and they would make each other miserable. While they share the fondness of long acquaintance, a marriage between them would be unbearable to both. (And they are probably right, too).

However, it's fun to suspend disbelief and go along for the ride with these two very likable characters and their supporting cast. The plot is entertaining, the subplot is interesting, the Regency world is portrayed in all it's frivolity and courtesy and is, as usual, the perfect escape from reality.

But, after pretending not to notice so many breaches in convention; a few stretches in plot handling; so much incongruous behavior in both characters; I--at least--expected a satisfying ending full of emotional fireworks and the joy and congratulations of all their friends. Well, it didn't happen. The first (and only) love declarations came in the last 1 ¼ pages of the book. In that space they got engaged, and the book came to a rather abrupt end.

What made this particularly irritating was that there was plenty of space to do finish the book properly. There were an additional 18 pages left in the final signature that were instead used to provide excerpts of previous books.

Frankly, paperbacks are getting so expensive that I resent getting less `book' and having to pay for `commercials'.

An Affair Without End Willowmere Candace Camp 9781439117996 Books Reviews

I enjoyed it, but it is not a well written as her other books
I have yet to be disappointed by Candace Camp. Her books are entertaining and she makes you feel that you are part of the families that she writes about.
The story was fun and had an interesting twist. The characters were well developed and interesting also. It was good, light reading.
Nice to see more mature protagonists. Sense of humor displayed by heroine was refreshing. The kidnapping scene was not very scary...a little too formulaic.
I am not a romance novel person. Never have been never will be. But I tried this out for a friend and I liked it. The characters were deeper than most romance novels and there was actually a plot. Will I turn to the genre. No, but this is a good one
It is absolutely beyond beautiful. I have been in love with Oliver & Vivian since the very first book- and their story does NOT disappoint.

He is so wonderful, kind, noble, intelligent, delicious, witty, sweet, tender, generous of heart-on & on, perfectly adorable!
She is so spirited & clever, so very self-assured, smart, kind, thoughtful, on & on, I loved her, too!
They are an engaging couple drawing you into the story and you never want to leave. It is fun & touching, romantic, and an adventure with daring scenes.
The subplots are great as well! Vivian's brother is a sweetheart and all the characters work really well into the story.

I laughed out loud, I was thrilled by all the interactions & exchanges in the story. It was like living in that time & world!

The SEX is SUPER HOT & very delicious!
I couldn't get enough of this story!

The author really out did herself! It flows really beautifully & you won't want to put it down or for it to end!

A MUST, MUST READ!!! Super, Super Fantastic & Glorious!!!
The final book of the Willowmere series. I was looking forward to the story of Oliver and Vivian after reading about them in the previous books. I was not disappointed as I really enjoyed this book. There is always a little mystery, romance and sex in the stories written by Candace Camp. I was diappointed in the price of this book as it was $2 more than the others which I thought were a fair price. I felt taken advantage of if I wanted to read the last installment of the series. The book was published over five years ago. I think I will check the prices of all books in a series from now on before I buy them.
This is my favorite of the three volumes. As with the other books, there are multiple relationships operating at the same time but the primary relationship is between the two eldest members- Lady Vivian and the Earl; a true oil & vinegar mix, one must keep them shaken up to make them blend together while adding a bit of a mystery for spice. In this volume we meet the brother of Lady Vivian, the heir to the Dukedom who is just as non-traditional as his sister, but in a manner that expresses itself dyametrically opposite which of course causes Camilla to stumble her way into the mix with all the satire and bluntness she brings to the daily lives of those who love her. One of the best techniques is employed by the writer- using the thoughts of her cast to add a much needed dimension to the characters of themselves and each other. It only works well because Lady Vivian and the Earl have a long standing relationship in which to reference as they compare and contrast the viability of their ongoing relationship. When the central characters are older with a maturity that maintains the believability of the internal dialogue & is interdispersed with the action and actual dialogue the result is akin to reading a play and then directing it into a first rate movie. It was easy to imagine the scenes as I was reading, of being the proverbial fly on the wall as the story unfolded, without being overwhelmed with fuzzy bits that cluttered the main stories, or a predictable relationship of the good guys/bad guys ending. And with the older primary characters, as with Fritz and Eve, the sex was really good!
