I down loaded this book today and I couldn't put it down. I'm always looking for something refreshing to share with my 13 year grand daughter since I read everything she suggests I read. This is a book that I actually read before her and one that I will share with her. Love this book and I will let you know what my grand daughter thinks of it when she finishes it. My thanks to the author whom my husband and I had the pleasure of meeting today at a luncheon. I'd be very interested in reading another novel in the same genre. Always love a good story when the good guys finish first. Thank you!

I enjoyed this warm and ultimately satisfying tale of a wise and intelligent heart in a very young woman, with guts beyond her years. As an older adult, I might have identified more with a chronologically older protagonist, but that didn't affect my appreciation - and admiration - of her courage in the midst of difficult social and economic pressures which would have defeated many an adult.

The book is well-written, it held my interest, and it deals with important issues in realistic gray. I recommend it to young and old.
This book captured my interest from the very beginning. This is a wonderful story of a young girl who doesn't really know what affect she has on the people in her life. She is not afraid to speak her piece and stands up for what she thinks is right. I found it easy to read and well-written. I highly recommend it. RG
This is an excellent book. It presents great characters, especially the heroine, who finds herself by accident in the midst of problems dealing with the possible financial collapse of her small town and the loss of her own home. The many adventures and hardships she endures and the moral dilemmas she faces makes for a lively, fun and uplifting story. Many educational aspects on big business, the environment, and personal responsibilty are woven neatly and without detracting from the page-turning excitement for young people.
I could not put this book down! It held my interest from start to finish. Not only was it exceptionally well-written story with a tightly-woven plot line , it had a powerful message of how honesty and integrity and "doing the right thing", while often requiring great courage, can have very beneficial results. Karen manages to teach us lessons of life in a fun,believably spun story.

I would highly recommend this book not only to children ages 7 and up, but to adults. There were wonderful lessons about ethical courage for all of us without in any way sounding "preachy."

Great read! Can't wait for the sequel!
